Jackson County All-Star teams continued play, with the 8-and-under and 10-and-under teams playing in the district tournament and the 12-and-under team playing in their beginning pool play games.

The 8-and-under team won their first tournament game last week against Waynesville by a score of 11-3. The team lost their second game to North Asheville 10-7. Leading hitters were shortstop Eli Hawk and second baseman Carson Miller.

The 10-and-under team lost both of their district games. They fell in the first game to Henderson County 16-6 and the second game to Transylvania County 18-8. William Russell pitched the first game and Brett Parris, Jackson Cooper and Kayden Moore led the team pitching in the second game. Most of the team’s runs were scored off walks spread across the two games.

The 12-and-under team lost both pool play games this weekend. They fell in the first game to Transylvania County by a score of 5-2 and lost the second game to Henderson County 12-5. Braxton Crowe, Trace Phillips, Emiliano Garcia and Josh Mitchell pitched a good outing over the weekend for the team. They will resume play at 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at Mark Watson Park.
