Judy Pressley Smathers of Sylva and William Bryan McClure of Dillard, Ga, were united in marriage at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Camp Hope in Canton.

The Rev. Johnnie Passmore performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Edith Messer Pressley of Waynesville and the late Johnnie Pressley.

The groom is the son of the late William Edward McClure and Shirley Houston McClure.

The bride was given in marriage and escorted down the isle by her 93-year-old mother. She wore a white cotton lace dress and wore a jewel comb in her hair. She carried a bouquet of blue lilies and white roses with cascading pearls.

Matron of honor was Hope Metzgar of Townsend, Del. Bridesmaid was Kayla Rae Smathers of Cherokee, granddaughter of the bride.

Preceding the bride down the aisle was the flower girl, Kaydinn Jeanette Smathers of Fayetteville, great-granddaughter of the bride. Nijah Ray Norton of Cherokee, great-grandson of the bride, was the ring bearer.

Toby Hunter of Dillard served as the best man. Groomsmen were Russell Smathers, of Tryon, Keith Smathers of Sylva and Jamie Norton of Cherokee.

A reception was held at Camp Hope.

The bride retired from the Jackson County Department of Social Services in 2013 and is co-owner of BJ’s BBQ.

The groom is the owner and operator of B&T Concessions/BJ’s BBQ.

After a wedding trip, the couple will make their home in Sylva.
