Herbert A. Nolan and Mary B. Haywood Nolan of Dillsboro will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 14, with their family at Asheville’s Grove Park Inn.

They were married in Webster Groves, Mo., in 1950 and are the parents of four children: their late son Richard Nolan; daughter Lorrie Masset of Largo, Fla.; son John Nolan of Orlando, Fla.; and daughter Terri Rogers of Asheville.

They have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Nolans moved from Missouri to Pinellas County, Fla., in the late 1950s and then to Jackson County in 1982.

Herb Nolan served as the Dillsboro town clerk for 30 years, after retiring from his prior job in pharmaceuticals with Marion Laboratories; Mary Nolan, a homemaker, is a seamstress and quilter who makes crafts and researches her family genealogy.
