Asheville pounded out 15 hits and was aided by five Smoky Mountain errors in a 16-4 softball romp Monday at Webster.
The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule. The Lady Cougars jumped in front 8-0 in the first with five hits, an error and two walks. They added two runs in the third for a 10-0 lead. "We let them take the lead early, and they took control of the game," Coach Melissa Hill said. "We just followed along." The Lady Mustangs (2-10) got on the board in the bottom of the third on a two-run double by Katie Crisp. The hit drove in Amanda Magruder and Megan Rhinehart, who had drawn walks. Timara Barker scored on a wild pitch in the fourth cutting the gap to 10-3. Asheville put the game away with six runs in the fifth. |
