|
Jake Lunnen was three of four at the plate and had a home run for the Mustangs. He pitched a scoreless seventh.
Lunnen got the scoring started in the top of the third with a two-run homer off loser Zach Warren following a walk to Kyle Bewsey. SM broke the game open with five runs in the fifth. An error, a single by Lunnen and a walk to Trent Dillard loaded the bases. Joseph Ensley walked to force in a run before Hopkins belted his pinch hit grand slam. Lunnen's double, Dillard's single and an error accounted for the final run in the sixth. Dillard had two hits in three at-bats. Hawkins pointed to Hopkins' grand slam as the play that broke the game open. The Mustang JVs took a 9-3 win at Enka. Josh Day was three of four with a double, three RBIs and two stolen bases. Patrick Dowling went two of three with a double. Brody Frizzell was two of four with a double and two RBIs. Jared Day stole three bases. Brent Robinson was the winning pitcher. He allowed six hits and a walk while striking out 10. "We really needed this win," Coach Bill Rice said. "It was important to get back on track in the conference." |
