Signing their names to seek re-election to state office Monday, the first day of the filing period for the 2000 elections, were Jackson County's Raleigh legislative team - Democrats Sen. Dan Robinson of Cullowhee (left photo) and Rep. Phil Haire of Sylva. Accompanying Robinson was his wife, Jean. Witnessing Haire's signature were his wife, Connie, right; Board of Elections Director Lisa Lehman, second from left; and Board of Elections assistant Sherrill Stephens.
The only other candidate who filed in Jackson County Monday was former Smoky Mountain High Principal Kenny Nicholson of Webster, who will run for one of two non-partisan school board seats up for grabs this year.
