To the Editor:

When I heard the Black Lives Matter protesters referred to as “fascists,” I wondered what that meant. Fascism was really before my time, although I do remember my mother (a naturalized citizen from Europe) calling Mussolini a “horrible fascist dictator.”

So I decided to ask Google what the definition of fascism was. Here is what Google said: “Fascism is a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.” So I’d like to know, “Who sounds the most like a fascist now in 2020?”

Wouldn’t it be better to listen to and to respect all people in this country and try to find consensus, rather than resort to divisive (and erroneous) name-calling?
