We’ve all heard of “The Road to Nowhere.’’ Well, how about a town with fewer businesses, because, we are told, we need some fancy street. Well, Sylva, in the past, has demolished many neat buildings, like Sylva Central High School and Elementary Schools. The train depot, the Ritz Theatre and the two beautiful houses on the left side of Main Street are gone. It is so easy to just eliminate our history, but it is so sad for us who remember the good old days.

A new street plan is “just’’ what we need. A sterile, no-personality street with a grassy median which is good for upkeep, like mowing and trash pickup. If we have that much space, give it back to the businesses. We need the businesses.

Surely a more effective plan can be utilized without eliminating our businesses; some of them will not survive.
