United Christian Ministries has received a $2,000 grant from the Balsam Mountain Preserve Fund for Jackson County. This grant supports UCM’s emergency assistance program for food and housing needs for Jackson County. The nonprofit UCM provides a food bank and financial assistance to Jackson County residents. UCM is funded by private donations, grants and fundraising outreach.
This grant will be used to purchase food for the food pantry and to provide financial assistance to residents in danger of being evicted. Since the pandemic began, the need for assistance has grown to about three times more people needing help than in years past. This grant was made possible by the Balsam Mountain Preserve Fund, an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.
The Balsam Mountain Preserve Fund for Jackson County is one of 12 funds that make up the Jackson County Community Foundation. Contact UCM at 586-8228 or visit ucmhelp.com.
