It was around 20 degrees at the start Saturday, Jan. 8, for Project F.I.R.E. with wood needing to be delivered to seniors in Jackson County.
No problem for a host of volunteers who delivered close to 40 loads of firewood. The event is organized by the Jackson County Department on Aging and Cullowhee United Methodist Church.
Participating groups included the Sylva Rotary Club, area Cub and Boy Scouts and local businesses. For more information on Project F.I.R.E (Fuel Intervention for the Rural Elderly) call Coordinator Matt Broomell at 586-5494.
