Billy Ray Sneed, age 70, of Sylva, N.C., passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022.
He was born on March 18, 1952, in Jackson County, to the late Robert and Geneva “Mabel” Hoyle Sneed.
Billy was an avid deer hunter and loved to cook. You could always count on Billy to tell some good tales and do some cuttin’ up. He was loved dearly by his family.
He will be missed by his loving children, Carlena (Jeff) Warren, Stephanie (Sheyenne) Lanning; siblings, Ruth (Gene) Settlemeyer, Mike Sneed, Gladys (Gerald) Green, Kathy (Terry) Ashe; grandchildren, Angela (Jerry) Lanning, Dakota (Jason) Dillard, Lakyn Lanning, Ciara Lanning, Cayden Ray Lanning; significant other, Brenda Sneed; dear friends, Larry Ledford, Josh Ledford, Bruce Crews Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Sneed; and sister-in-law, Marcia Sneed.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva, N.C.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the funeral home, with Revs. Earl Holden and Tim Dillard officiating.
Interment followed at Love Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Cayden Ray Lanning and Bruce Crews Jr.
Appalachian Funeral Services was entrusted with Billy Ray’s funeral arrangements.
