Lydia Belle Bryson Cope, 80, of Sylva’s Addie community died Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at Harris Regional Hospital after a recurring illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Buff Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Lowdermilk officiating.

A native of Jackson County, she lived in Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina before returning to Sylva in 1983. She attended Western Carolina University in her 20’s and returned to WCU in her 40’s to gain her diploma. She was a member of Buff Creek Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Clyde and Mae Snyder Bryson of Addie.

Surviving are two daughters and one son, Laura Freeze of Rockwell, N.C., Kay Swann of Charleston, S.C., and Lee Cope of Waynesville, N.C.; one brother, Clyde “Dewey” Bryson of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
