Sim Morgan, 88, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 24, 2019, surrounded by his family.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Gracie Morgan. Sim was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed fox hunting, was an avid gardener and he was a friend to everyone. He deeply loved his family, his church and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his eight siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Minnie Lee Morgan; daughter, Sheila Taylor (Gary) of Brevard; son, Neil Morgan of Sylva; son, Danny Morgan (Pam) of Sylva; four granddaughters, Kristy Aiken (Jeremy) of Rosman, Kim Swingle (Joe) of Asheville, Amanda Carnes (Bryan) of Sylva, Ashley Crowe (Nathan) of Sylva; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two extended grandchildren, Tyler and Tate Sutton, also survive.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2019, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Moore and Ernie Jamison officiating.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
