James Carroll Tatham, age 86, of Sylva passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020.
He was the son of the late Ralph Tatham and Eula McLean. He was married to his wife, Pat, for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia G. Tatham; and two stepchildren, Richard “Dickie” Caldwell and wife Jennifer and Kim Caldwell Gibson and husband Vaughn. He is also survived by three grandsons, Chad Caldwell, Brad Caldwell and Tyler Caldwell and wife Thersia; and two granddaughters, Jaderian Ackerman Gibson and husband Rob and Wyndsor Caldwell.
He was happy for a great-grandchild expected to be born in April. He was also privileged to have a special nurse, Amber Bush.
He was a member of Wesleyanna United Methodist Church. He was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation and was the co-owner of Tathams Mountain Retirement Park. Carroll enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
You could always see Carroll on the lawnmower or his golf cart if you lived or visited the Park. He enjoyed feeding the turkeys and keeping the Retirement Park well maintained.
A private, family-only memorial service will be held on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be made in Carroll’s memory to Wesleyanna United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 7966 U.S. 441 South, Sylva, NC 28779; or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786.
