Dana Marie O’Dell Thomas, 56, who resided in the Phoenix, Ariz., community, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 6, 2021.
A native of North Carolina and longtime resident in the Whittier community, she was the daughter of the late Vernon O’Dell and Linda O’Dell. Dana was preceded in death by her father, Vernon O’Dell; and sister-in-law, June Thomas-Studley.
Dana is survived by her beloved husband, Benjamin Thomas; the newlyweds were recently married on Oct. 10, 2020. Dana is also survived by her mother, Linda O’Dell; siblings Katherine Cipriano (Steven), and William O’Dell (Carmen); niece and nephews, Brianne Cipriano, Sean Cipriano, William O’Dell Jr., Drew Cipriano, Ian O’Dell and Leighton O’Dell; and many others who she loved completely, Katherina (Ken) DeRico, Sunday (Richard) Pruitt, Carla (Quinton) Lytle, Virginia (Neil) Hawken, Caitlin (Joshua) Snodgrass and Austin DeRico.
Dana faithfully attended Desert Christian Fellowship in Phoenix, Ariz., and was an active member of her church choir, where she enjoyed singing praises to the Almighty and fellowshipping with cherished friends. Dana was a faculty member at Grand Canyon University where she taught mathematics. Dana adored her Grand Canyon family and considered her work there an extension of her Christian ministry.
To know Dana was a treasure. Her quick wit and warm heart radiated out to encompass everyone around her. Though Dana is missed by all that loved her, she is finally residing in her celestial home with her heavenly father.
