On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, Vance Neal Kirkland, loving father and a great friend of many, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 61.
Vance was born on Feb. 15, 1960, in Macon County, N.C. He lived most of his life in Jackson County. He was a carpenter and a tradesman of many skills.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Kirkland; and one brother, Tex Kirkland.
Surviving are his mother, Mary F. Owens; and two brothers, Kenneth Kirkland and Thad Kirkland. He is also survived by two daughters, Crystal (Jeter) Baldwin and Cassie (Dulane) Elders; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Vance had a passion for helping others, enjoying the outdoors and collecting antiques. He loved life and lived it to the fullest and was loved by many.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given in Vance’s name to Appalachian Funeral Services to offset the cost of the funeral services.
