Doug Smith

Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening in the outdoors, and he worked as a store clerk locally for 35 years with A&P.

He was the son of the late R.D. Smith and Hazel Middleton Smith, and he was preceded in death by a son, Curtis.

He is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Judy Smith; son, Bryan (Tara) Smith; grandchildren, Deborah (Bob) Houston, Star Smith, Colby Smith, Ryleigh Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Bombay, Creedence Bombay; brother, Joe Michael (Bonnie) Smith, all of Sylva; nephew, James Clinton Smith, and niece, Janene K. Smith, both of Waynesville.

The family received friends Sunday, Dec. 27, from 2-3 p.m. at Appalachian Funeral Services. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
