Carolyn Coleman

L. Carolyn Messer Coleman, 68, of the Shoal Creek Community went home to be with the Lord, Sunday July 7, 2013, in a Jackson County Hospital.

A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Flonnie Gunter Messer. She was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Melony Lynn Littlejohn; five brothers, Kelly, John, Billy, J.D., Arthur Messer; three sisters, Lessie Tucker, Ellen Frady and Linda Messer.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Coleman; three children, Junior Messer of Whittier, Donna Milsaps and husband Ronnie of Bryson City, and Tammy Dyer of Whittier; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, Bonnie Hanses of Yakima, Wash., Gladys Hensley of Whittier, Mary Sue Payne of Sylva, Myrtle Nations of Whittier, Fannie Mae Hoop of Sylva, and Annie Payne of Bryson City; two brothers, Harrison Messer of Bryson City, and Robert Messer of Yakima, Washington.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The Revs. Lannie Nations and Jimmy Lambert officiated with burial in Barkers Creek Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
