Pat Walter Nations, age 84, of Whittier passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at John Keever Solace Center of Asheville, N.C.

Pat was born July 27, 1934, in North Carolina. He was the son of the late Walter and the late Florence Parker Nations.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dora Jones.

Pat served for two years in the U.S. Army. He held numerous jobs over his lifetime, but his favorite was when he and Dora owned the candy shop in Dillsboro. Pat also enjoyed working the garden with his wife, farming and working with the cattle. He also served as a deacon at Serenity Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two grandsons, Tyler and Josh Ashe; one great-granddaughter, Carolina Ashe; and one son-in-law, Terry Ashe.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Brenda Lorene, Barbara Marueen and Marylin Connie.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Max Cochran, Rev. David Hall and Pastor Austin Frady officiating.

The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial followed the service at Nations Creek Cemetery.
