Lloyd Teesateskie IIILloyd Teesateskie III, infant son of Lloyd and Josephine Teesateskie of Cherokee, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Adams Creek Cemetery. The Revs. J.B. Smith and Phillip Ellington officiated.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Martha Joyce Teesateskie. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are the maternal grandparents, Jim and Arbara Driver of Cherokee; and the paternal grandfather, Lloyd Oscar Teesateskie of Robbinsville. Bill Moody Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mae WahnetahMae Cagle Wahnetah, 88, of Cherokee's Yellowhill community, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at Tsali Care Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, in Yellowhill Baptist Church. The Revs. James ³Red² Bradley and Larry Perry officiated. Burial was in Wahnetah Family Cemetery.A native of Transylvania County and a resident of Cherokee for the past 70 years, she was the wife of the late John Wahnetah and daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Mull Cagle. Surviving are one son, Robert Ross of Cherokee; three daughters, Mary Ross Visage of Sylva, Jessie Ross Swimmer of Cherokee and Delene Ross McCoy of Waynesville; one brother, Ernest Cagle of Brevard; three sisters, Delma Holden of Penrose, Laura Cagle of Florida and Flora Cagle of Asheville; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Moody Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Jessie HenryJessie Frank Henry, 100, of Burning Ridge Drive, Sylva, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at Harris Regional Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home. The Revs. Carl Adams, Woodrow Hutchison and Eddie Stillwell officiated.Burial was in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Alvin Farmer, Scott Henry, George Henry, Roger Henry, Perry Taylor and Tony Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Saunders, Eric Brown, Jesse Farmer, Jeff Henry, Nathan David Thomas and Paul Farmer. A native of Macon County, he had lived in Jackson County for the past 50 years. He celebrated his 100th birthday in October. A retired farmer, he was the son of the late Isaac Pinkmond and Nancy Ann Wooten Henry. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Carver Henry; four daughters, Aquilla Farmer, Lillie Brown and Annie Farmer, all of Sylva, and Frankie Taylor of Franklin; three sons, Perry Henry and David Henry, both of Sylva, and Carl Henry of Stockbridge, Ga; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Woodrow MiddletonWoodrow Middleton, 86, of Sylva, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the V.A. Medical Center in Asheville after a period of declining health. Graveside services were held at 11 am. Friday, Dec. 10, at Fairview Memorial Gardens.A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he retired from Western Carolina University as the equipment room supervisor. He was a World War II Army veteran and the son of the late Nathen and Nancy Long Middleton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Davis Middleton, who died in 1988. Surviving are one daughter, Wanda Middleton of Cullowhee; one son, Ernie Nathan Middleton of Sylva; two step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Laura Bryson Middleton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis McCall, who died in 1996; one son, James Willard McCall; and three sisters, Mary McCall, Myrtle Wright and Jessie Middleton. Surviving are two daughters, Doris Beck and Jackie Gentry, both of Balsam; five sons, Edwin McCall of Waynesvllle, Boyce McCall, Sidney McCall and Max McCall, all of Balsam, Orville McCall of Charlotte; one sister, Birdell Daniels of Waynesville; one brother, Harry Middleton of Waynesville; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County and a daughter of the late Sam and Lizzie Coggins Cabe Hooper. She was a member of Old Savannah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus C. Buchanan, who died in 1983, four brothers, four sisters, and two grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, James C. Jones and R. C. Buchanan, both of Sylva; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren. The Rev. Daniel Stiles will officiate. Burial will be at Loves Chapel Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was a former school teacher. During World War II she worked at the Norfolk Naval Operating Base. She retired from Bowers Department Store and was a member of Loves Chapel United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Besssie Rice Edwards and wife of the late Lewis W. Bumgarner. Surviving are one son, Lewis W. Bumgarner Jr. of Dalton, Ga.; one daughter, Elizabeth Bradley of Sylva; two sisters, Lois Martin of Chapel Hill and Hazel Shields of Whittier; two grandsons; and one great-grandson. Pallbearers will be Randy Crawford, Ricky Crawford, Nick Nichols, Brad Smith, Phillip Stephens and Danny Stephens. A native of Swain County, she had lived in Jackson County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Tom and Addie Mathis Beck and wife of Dennie Nichols, who died in 1973. Surviving are one daughter, Betty N. Crawford of Weaverville; one son, Ray A. Nichols of Bryson City; one sister, Verdie Wood of Whittier; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Union Hill Cemetery Fund. Raymond Glenn Jr.Raymond Loop Glenn Jr., 77, died Monday, Dec. 13, at Brithaven of Charlotte from complications of Parkinson's Disease.A memorial service will be held at Calvary Church Chapel today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. Dr. Clifton Wood will officiated. Burial will follow at Magnolia Gardens, Calvary Church. Prior to residing at Brithaven, he had been a resident at Sunrise of South Charlotte Special Care facility for 18 months. A native of Brevard, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Glenn Sr. He lived for many years in Sylva, where he owned and operated Glenn Funeral Home. He later spent 26 years as a science teacher in Asheville, Eden and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He spent 22 of those years at Sedgefield Junior High, retiring in 1982. A graduate of Mars Hill Junior College, attended Emory University and later graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in biology. He was also a graduate of Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tenn., and received a masterıs degree from Western Carolina University. He was a World War II Navy veteran, participating in the Normandy Invasion and later serving in the Pacific Theater. Surviving are his wife of nearly 41 years, Elizabeth Messer Glenn; two sons, Raymond Medford Glenn of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and John David Glenn of Charlotte; one sister, Jean Glenn Aspinol of White Plains, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. The Revs. Eddie Stillwell and Harry Vance officiated. Burial was in Evitt Cemetery. Pallbearers were Morlan Bowman, Billy Bowman, Wade Rogers, Andy Holden, Doug Moses and Kenneth Crowe. A native of Jackson County, he had lived in Haywood County for the past 13 years. Son of the late Charles F. and Stella Mae Stewart Woods, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was the former meat manager at Haroldıs Supermarket and a furniture salesman. Surviving are one daughter, Lena Cook of Sylva; one son, Kelvin Monteith of Charlotte; three sisters, Belva Shuler and Linda Brown, both of Sylva, and Brenda Mills of Waynesville; four brothers, Lewis Woods of Lilburn, Ga., Thad Woods and Wendell Woods, both of Waynesville, and Barry Woods of Sylva.
