The Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District will offer opportunities for students in grades three to nine to participate in the annual essay, speech, poster, computer designed poster or computer designed slideshow contests.
The theme for this year’s contest is “Wetlands are Wonderful.” The topic can be incorporated into the essential standards for public, private, charter and home-schooled children.
The poster contest is open to all third through sixth grade students in Jackson County. Each grade holds their own contest. The essay and computer slideshow contests are open to sixth grade students.
The speech contest is open to seventh and eighth graders. And the computer designed poster contest is open to ninth grade students.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each contest as well as to the teachers of the winning students.
The deadline for submissions is Jan. 24. For contest information and questions, contact Jane Fitzgerald at 586-5465 or email email@example.com.
