Dear friends, parents, students and employees of Jackson County Public Schools:
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year. I hope each of you has had time to reconnect with family during this unprecedented summer. I know you share my commitment as we resume our work to help every student experience success in their educational career.
First, and foremost, student safety and mental health are at the center of our work together. The focus on teaching and learning is ever-present in each decision we make, and in the opportunities in which we partake.
Our students are our greatest asset, and we value the ability to make a difference in their lives; our students are our future.
Parents and students may have questions regarding school operations. Our students return either in person or remotely on Aug. 17. We are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the calendar or any school item. Additionally, we have an informative parent page on our website that provides immediate access to Re-Entry, remote learning plans, district policies, school handbooks, calendars, school supply lists, school contact information and other pertinent details.
I enjoy sharing the wonderful opportunities in Jackson County Public Schools. Here are a few highlights:

• 600 employees – competent, compassionate teachers, administrators, staff and support professionals.

Each parent has a choice of in person or remote learning this school year.
Thank you to each parent, student, teacher, administrator, staff member and support professional for your dedication to the students, each other and to this school system.
Welcome back! Please let me know if we may assist you. We are anxiously awaiting the return of students and are excited to begin what we believe will be an excellent year for our students.
It is a bittersweet moment as I write this final Welcome Letter as your Superintendent. Back in June, I announced my Sept. 1 retirement. Please know that after 33 plus years in education, my heart will always belong to Jackson County Public Schools. I will re-engage with a consulting firm I began many years ago, Elliott and Associates Educational Consulting. Please let me know if I may assist you, as together, we engage in education for the success of Jackson County students.
Kim Elliott, is Superintendent, Jackson County Public Schools.
