Sylva’s Pressley receives Haire scholarship at WCU

Grace Pressley, a Western Carolina University student from Sylva, was recently announced as recipient of the Phil and Connie Haire School of Music Scholarship and the Michael Buckner Scholarship by WCU’s David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts.

Pressley is a freshman at WCU majoring in commercial and electronic music. She is the daughter of Chris and Jen Pressley.

Head of School’s High Honors:

Head of School’s Honors:

Grade 9 – Cora Leitch of Cullowhee and David Cline of Cashiers;

Grade 8 – Ben Mathews of Sylva.

Head of School’s High Honors recognizes students who earned an average no lower than 4.0 with no grade below B+, and no effort rating below satisfactory in grades 9-12, and recognizes students who have all A’s with no grade below an A- in grades 4-8. Head of School’s Honors recognizes students who have all A’s and B’s with no grade below a B-, and no effort rating below satisfactory in grades 4-8, and recognizes students who have an average not lower than 3.0, with no grade below C+, and no effort rating below satisfactory in grades 9-12.
