Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment will be offering an online High Impact Leadership Certificate from Monday-Friday, Nov. 9-13, with live instruction, activities and interaction.
The program will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.
“WCU supports professional development growth in our region by offering meaningful training programs that help people to be more successful in their current jobs and also to prepare career-focused individuals for advancement,” said Jill Thompson, associate director of professional development at WCU. “We recently conducted a survey to ask people what they want and need in our region. For this reason, we’ve chose to offer more leadership and management training and have improved our High Impact Leadership program.”
WCU has added a new topic this year focused on discovering strengths and leadership style facilitated by Lowell Davis, associate vice chancellor for student success and Anne Aldrich, assistant to the provost.
Another new topic added to the certificate this year is training related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in leadership which will be led by Brandi Hinnant-Crawford, associate professor of educational research at WCU.
“Most leaders attempt to rally a team around a shared vision, aid in the execution of the strategy to achieve the vision, and monitor progress towards the goal,” Hinnant-Crawford said. “Leaders who understand the importance of diversity and inclusion, cultivate a culture and climate that enables team members to contribute and perform at optimum levels.”
