Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment will be offering a “Website Construction 101: Learn the Basics of Coding” workshop from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, and again on Friday, April 3, for those who want a next-level course.
Drew Virtue, an associate professor in the Department of English at WCU, will serve as instructor for both workshops.
“This program has been designed to offer participants a crash course in building basic websites using hypertext markup language (HTML) and cascading style sheets (CSS),” said Virtue. “The second ‘optional’ workshop is a deeper dive into CSS programming.”
In the first workshop, Virtue will go over HTML and give a basic introduction to CSS.
Attendees will develop foundational skills to build their own website or better manage existing websites.
Throughout this workshop, attendees will learn about HTML markup and have a basic introduction to CSS through active learning and reflection based activities.
In the second “optional” workshop, Virtue will expand on CSS markup skills, including creating a functional website by the end of the program.
The registration fee for each workshop is $139 or $249 for both.
