The Jackson County Department of Social Services has Emergency Assistance programs such as the Low Income Energy Assistance Program and Crisis Intervention Program still available for qualifying applicants.

LIEAP provides a one-time annual energy provider payment to help eligible families pay their heating expense. Participants must apply for LIEAP by March 31.

CIP assists individuals and families who are experiencing a heating or cooling-related health crisis. A household is in crisis if they have no heating or cooling source, have a disconnect, final or past due notice for their primary heating/cooling service and the health of a household member would be in danger if the crisis is not alleviated.

Apply for these programs by calling 586-5546, going to the link on the agency website at or at, or by filling out a paper application and placing it in the agency dropbox.

The agency lobby is currently closed to the public but all services are still being offered.
