The Department on Aging Senior Center will offer a virtual Living Healthy with Chronic Pain workshop beginning Jan. 4. This free course will teach participants 50 years old or better strategies and skills to help manage chronic pain 

The class will meet from 2-4 p.m. Mondays via Zoom for seven weeks. A Tuesday morning class will be offered over the phone for those without an internet connection or device. Participants will receive a Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions book, a Moving Easy Program CD, and a Relaxation for Mind and Body CD.

Participants will discover the mind-body connection, the benefits of physical activity, the connection between food and chronic pain, and ways to communicate with your doctor and family. In partnership with the N.C. Cooperative Extension, the Department on Aging Senior Center will offer a Med Instead of Meds virtual program on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. until – 12:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 13 through Feb. 17.

The Med Instead of Meds class series explores the Mediterranean way of eating. Participants will learn simple tricks and tips to improve nutrition and will also prepare a recipe together. Ingredient and utensil list will be provided before each class.
