The Jackson County Democratic Party (jacksondems.com) will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at party headquarters at 500 Mill St., Sylva. JCDP monthly meetings include all precinct officers and party executive officers, as well as representatives of auxiliary organizations. Frank Burrell, chair of JCDP, will preside.

The South Jackson County Republican PARTY will meet in Cashiers at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Cashiers-Glenville Recreation Center at 355 Frank Allen Road in Cashiers. The invited speaker is Senator Jim Davis. Republicans are also invited to join in the plans to re-elect President Donald Trump, a Republican governor, Jackson County commissioners and legislators in 2020. The Summit Church invites Sylva to help fill Sylva’s Little Free Pantry with canned goods, toiletries and other items during September. Items can be dropped off at the freestanding pantry located in front of Lifeway Church at the corner of Railroad Avenue and Allen Street.

Parkinson’s Support in the Mountains will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in the Heritage Room of the Jackson County Department on Aging, 100 County Services Park, Sylva. The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning about Parkinson’s disease.
