I was born and raised in Sylva, attended Scotts Creek Elementary School and graduated from Smoky Mountain High School in 1997.
I attended North Carolina State University where I received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
After college I returned to Sylva and have been employed by the N.C. Department of Transportation for 16 years. I am currently the Division 14 Project Manager.
I am married to Myranda Bryson Jamison, and we have four children; Sawyer (10 years old), Maggie (8), Mabel (6) and R.J. (4).
Sawyer, Maggie and Mabel attend Fairview Elementary School.
I’m seeking re-election because I have a vested interest in our school system. Moreover, I want to ensure that all children have a safe place to learn with the best possible resources.
While serving on the board the last four years my colleagues and I have been able to accomplish many improvements.
For example, we have increased the number of school counselors and school resource officers, provided laptops for students to use at school and at home, added pre-K classrooms to several of the schools and updated security procedures at every school.
It is my intent to continue to make the best decisions for our children in the Jackson County Public School System. I will continue to work hard to meet the expectations set for me and will be available if you need me.
Thank you for your continued support.
