THE SMOKY MOUNTAIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM will hold a fish fry Saturday at the school cafeteria. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance from team members. Take-out plates will be available. The menu includes flounder ($2 extra) or whitefish, baked beans, coleslaw, hushpuppies and a drink. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in conjunction with Jackson County’s youth basketball games against Cherokee.
THE JACKSON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY will host its Christmas dinner and annual meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Sylva First Presbyterian Church. Everyone interested in genealogy is invited. The event will include installation of 2020 officers, recognition of outgoing officers and presentation of the JCGS awards. Music will be provided by the Fabulous Four. Paper products and drinks will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share.
THE EXTENSION AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION will hold a Christmas wreath-making workshop at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Sylva. Attendees should bring their own ring, clippers, gloves and any decorations or other greenery. Cost is $10.
DOWN HOME NORTH CAROLINA will have a meeting at 4 p.m. Saturday, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.
