elk on yellow bird branch road

Vickie Davis thought her son, Sylva town board member David Nestler, had played a joke on her when she saw an elk in her back yard. “I looked up and the elk was standing right in front of me,” Davis said. “He turned and looked straight at me.”

The elk walked to the end of her driveway at 71 Yellow Bird Branch Road and crossed right in front of a Jeep. The elk walked through several of her neighbors’ yards before disappearing into the woods. “To look up and see an elk of that size was just so amazing,” Davis said.
