The new greeting sign on Grindstaff Cove Road below the Jackson County Justice Center is complete. The sign replaces an older one that was at the current Nantahala Brewing Company site. Many community members came together to build, paint and finance the sign. It was funded by the Jackson County Municipal Grant and completed at a cost of $5,000. The construction team consisted of the Smoky Mountain High School metal fabrication class, who finished the main logo; other fabrications were done by Zach Sorrells, a member of the Sylva Public Works; painting was finished by Tom Dillard; the block foundation was constructed by Jake Scott, Steve Shuler and Zach Sorrells, all members of the Public Works crew; Jamie Kent from Kent Masonry finished the rock work on the sign.
