CLARIFICATION: In a Feb. 11 article concerning HERE in Jackson County’s request for proposals, the article’s explanation of funding streams was ambiguous. In a typical year Jackson County government provides the majority of HERE’s funding at $150,824 with state and local agencies and churches and businesses providing the rest. For fiscal year 2020-21, HERE’s $634,546 budget was bolstered by $367,721 in CARES Act funding, most of which is earmarked for housing stabilization, not emergency shelter.
