A motorcycle wreck in the East LaPorte area left a man dead and a woman with serious injuries.
At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, a Franklin couple on a motorcycle was traveling north on N.C. 107 when a 1993 Ford truck leaving the river access traveled straight across the road toward Blackwood Road, said 1st Sgt. Scott Smith of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
“The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the truck,” he said. “The motorcycle was going about 35 mph.”
Reginald Holland Jr., 56, of Franklin, was driving the motorcycle. He was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Asheville, where he died the next day.
His passenger, Angela Martin, 48, of Franklin, remained at Mission as of Tuesday afternoon.
The driver of the truck, William Morris, 19, of Cullowhee, was not injured.
NCHP, Cullowhee Fire and Harris EMS responded to the scene.
