Reconcile Sylva, a group formed in mid-June with the goal of fighting racial injustice, will be hosting a rally at 6 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the old Jackson County Courthouse. The rally, dubbed “Rally to Reconcile – 105 Years is Too Long,” is set for the 105th anniversary of the dedication of the controversial Confederate memorial that overlooks the town.

The group will hold an interfaith vigil in commemoration of the International Day of Peace from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at Bridge Park, in tandem with 3,700 other events occurring globally during the 2020 Campaign Nonviolence Week of Action.
