FISH AND MORE PET STORE will have a fundraising event for Advocates for Animals of WNC from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. They will be taking Valentine’s photos and paw print signatures, including a frame. There will be a raffle for a gift basket from Fish and More, and a “guess the biscuits” contest. PARKINSON’S SUPPORT IN THE MOUNTAINS will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Heritage Room of the Jackson County Department on Aging, 100 County Services Park, Sylva. The meeting is open to everyone interested in learning more about the disease.
THE JACKSON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY will host a presentation by Jackson County Board of Elections Director Lisa Lovedahl at 6 p.m. Tuesday. She will discuss the mechanics of voting; the who, what, where and why of voting in Jackson County. She will also be covering the voter ID law and the new voting machines. THE WNC BRIDGE FOUNDATION will host a listening session for nonprofits regarding grant programs from 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Burrell Building room 102 C-D on the Southwestern Community College campus. They will also provide information regarding the 2020 Impact Grant process, which will make awards in the focus areas of elder care, emergency wellness and youth development.
