A 2013 Hyundai driven by Joe Lederer of Sylva rests upside down following a single-vehicle wreck last Thursday on U.S. 74 near Mt. Zion Church Road. No one was injured. The N.C. Highway Patrol reports 22 crashes during the heavy rains Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Four of them were on U.S. 74 near its intersection with Mt. Zion Church Road, according to 911 Communications Coordinator Wanda Hall. A Frontier Communications truck suffered $12,000 damage when it hit a downed tree on N.C. 107 near its intersection with U.S. 64 in Cashiers.
