Team Law Enforcement defeated Team Fire 54-11 in Saturday’s Jackson County Battle of the Badges flag football game at Smoky Mountain High School. The game pitted county firefighters and EMS personnel against local law enforcement workers and rescue squad members. The event drew about $10,000 to benefit Jackson County Fire and Life Safety, a nonprofit providing fire and life safety education to children in Jackson County. The event was the brainchild of Major Shannon Queen of the Sheriff’s Office and Mike Pressley of the Savannah Fire Department. They hope to make it an annual event. The lopsided score was due to the law enforcement side having younger players, Pressley said.
