New traffic lights

Covered traffic signals - intersection of N.C. 107 S. and S.R. 1002 Herald photo by Lynn Hotaling Covered traffic signals at the intersection of N.C. 107 S. (Cullowhee Road) and S.R. 1002 (Old N.C. 107) Tuesday (Feb. 22) stood ready for activation. The new lights were expected to be turned on Wednesday.

Department of Transportation officials received a request for signals at the intersection, said Mark Teague, a DOT assistant traffic engineer, and proceeded with installation after studies determined the site met criteria in terms of traffic volume and numbers of vehicles entering the highway from Old 107.
