Additional evidence collected at Moses Creek murder sceneBy Lisa Majors-DuffAdditional evidence has been uncovered at a crime scene in the Roy Taylor Forest.Law enforcement officers with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department found additional remains and clothing during a follow-up investigation at the site where skeletal remains of an unknown man were discovered earlier this year. The remains have been sent to the state medical examiner in Chapel Hill, said Detective Darrin Young. The Sheriff's Department has been investigating the identity of the remains since they were discovered by a hunter near Moses Creek. They have determined that the individual died of a blunt-force tramua. What they know about the man is that he was White and stood between 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 5-foot, 9-inches. Items found near the body included a size 6 or 7 14-karat gold wedding band with engraved initials "DKW & AFK" and a size 14-16 Hanes T-shirt. Anyone with information about the case should call the Sheriff's Department at 586-8901. |
