Sylva man shot, killed; investigators seek suspectsBy Lisa Majors-Duff and Carey PhillipsThe Jackson County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Sylva man who was found shot near Barkers Creek.Investigators say a family member reported Steven Lloyd Jones, 34, of Flaxman Cove Road, missing on Oct. 27. Following a tip made to the department, officers found Jones's body in a wooded area the next day, Thursday, Oct. 28. His date of death is being listed as Sunday, Oct. 24. A husband and wife from the Boston, Mass., area, Jason C. Graybill and Jennifer Murphy Graybill, both age 26, are wanted for questioning in the case, said Detective Darrin Young. Their current where abouts are unknown, he said. Jennifer Graybill and her husband were in the area visiting her friend, who was also Jones's girlfriend, investigators say. No motive for the killing of the drywall hanger is being released. A national search is under way to find Jason Graybill, who is wanted in Massachusetts on charges of raping a minor child and in Jackson County for obtaining property by false pretenses. He is described by police as a white male nearly 6-foot tall weighing 180 pounds. He has blue eyes and dark brown or black hair. The Graybills may be driving a blue, four-door 1987 Mercury Marqui with Massachusetts plates or a rental vehicle with Georgia plates, possibally a red Grand Am or Grand Prix. If found, the Graybills should not be approached and should be considered armed and dangerous, investigators say.
