Submitting News:
To submit a news tip, story, letter to the editor, or anything news related, send an e-mail to news@thesylvaherald.com. Do not send information as attachments. Copy and paste the text of your document into the text of the email. (i.e. Don’t send a press release as a .DOC/Word Document, copy and paste the information from the document into the e-mail) Please read additional information at the bottom of this page about deadlines. Letters to the Editor that are e-mailed must include pertinent information such as name, address, and a telephone number for contact. Omitting any of this information may result in the letter not being published.
News Deadlines
ALL news submissions to The Sylva Herald - excluding wedding, engagement and anniversary announcements - should be received by noon Monday in order to be considered for that week's newspaper. Wedding, Engagement, and Anniversary Announcements should be received by 12:00 noon on Friday prior to the week that they wish to run in.
Every effort will be made to include news of upcoming events the week it is submitted, and society news will generally be published the week it is received.
Other submissions will be published in the order they are received but not necessarily during the week they are received.
Early deadlines may be in effect during holiday weeks.
Advertising Deadlines
CLASSIFIED and LEGAL advertising must be received by noon Tuesday. No exceptions. Starting October 1, 2004, all classified advertising MUST be received by 12:00 noon on Monday.
DISPLAY advertising is also due by noon Tuesday with the exception of real estate ads, which are due by noon Monday.
Early deadlines may be in effect during holiday weeks.
