A Massachusetts man was indicted on a first-degree murder charge Monday by the Jackson County Grand Jury.
Jason Graybill, 26, of Boston, is charged in connection with the October shooting death of Steve Jones of Sylva. His body was found Oct. 28 on property owned by his family in the Barkers Creek area.
Previously indicted in the case were Graybill's 26-year-old wife, Jennifer, and Jeannie O'Connor, 26, of Sylva, who authorities said had been Jones' girlfriend. Jennifer Graybill is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to a felony. O'Connor is charged with felony obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to a felony.
The grand jury had been expected to consider indictments against six teenagers charged with the detonation of pipe bombs at the new Scotts Creek School construction site in December. However, officials in the clerk of court's office said those cases did not come up because the arresting officer, Matt Helton of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, was not present.
