THE JACKSON COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time, exempt Physician Extender II-Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to work within the Clinic unit of the health department. The primary purpose of the position is to provide preventative and/or primary care services to patients in a variety of clinics to include family planning, adult health, prenatal, STDs, child health, employee health, and the Oconaluftee Job Corps Center. An employee in this position has received specialized training to function as an extension of a physician in making medical diagnoses and dispensing medical treatment. Medical diagnosis and medical treatment is guided by the collaborative practice agreement between the Medical Director and the Physician Extender II as well as by mutually agreed upon written protocols. Interpersonal skills are necessary to work with patients, families, and health department staff. Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver's license. Required Minimum Training: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Approved to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner and approved to practice medical acts by the Joint Subcommittee of the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center or The American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Salary Range: $83,359.21-$103,646.71 (Grade 39).
