The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is looking for two men they believe may have been involved in a breaking and entering that resulted in a hit and run last week on Cedar Creek Road in the southern end of the county.
Officers responded to a breaking and entering in progress Feb. 16. While enroute, the officers were notified that a vehicle was leaving the scene, possibly carrying stolen property, and that a person had been run over by that vehicle, said Capt. David Grant of the Sheriff's Department. "When officers arrived at the scene, they found David Lusk injured," Grant said. "Mr. Lusk stated he had been run over by the breaking and entering suspects while he and his father had attempted to detain the suspects for law enforcement." Lusk was transported via emergency helicopter to Mission-St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville, where he underwent surgey for his injuries, said Grant. He was released Friday, Feb. 18, according to a hospital spokesperson. The men sought are described as white males driving a Ford Ranger. The vehicle may have damage to its front area. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department at 586-4480. |
