Applications will be accepted through Saturday for the first Sylva Art and Design Committee local art pop-up gallery. The event will be downstairs at Black Balsam Outdoors in downtown Sylva from 6-9 p.m. July 26.

The show’s theme is “What does Sylva mean to you?” Art in a variety of media – from jewelry to painting to pottery and more – will showcase the many different faces of Sylva and the people and personalities that create a sense of place in the mountains.

A percentage of funds raised during the pop-up exhibition will go to SADC to help further public arts displays in downtown Sylva, with the remainder going directly to participating artists.

Black Balsam Outdoors is at 562 W. Main St. in Sylva, and the entrance to the pop-up show will be the back entrance on Mill Street.
