A CAR SHOW AND SWAP MEET is set for Uncle Bill’s Flea Market on U.S. 74-441 between Sylva and Whittier on Sunday. A $100 prize and trophy for best car and best truck will be given; visitors will judge the show. Cash and trophy prizes will also be given for second and third place.

WEEKLY SINGING SESSIONS will begin at Cullowhee United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Those who like to sing can join in as the Fall 2018 session begins. The 10-week session will focus on the joy of making music from around the world together. The group is open to all singers – no singing experience is necessary; no sheet music reading or auditions are required. THE JACKSON COUNTY SENIOR CENTER will host a yard sale and craft show Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8-11 a.m. at the Department on Aging, 100 County Services Park, Sylva. HELL ON WHEELS MOTORCYCLE CLUB is partnering with The Christmas Connection, a non-profit (501c3) organization that provides new Christmas presents to Jackson County children in need, through the 2018 Jackson County Toy Run on Dec. 1. HOWMC is seeking sponsorships from local businesses in the form of a $100 tax-deductible donation, with proceeds going to The Christmas Connection and the local families that they serve. ON SATURDAY, SEPT. 29 from 7-9 p.m., the CommUnity Square Dance will be held in Reid Gym on the Western Carolina campus. Caller Phil Jamison will teach and call all dances. No partner or fancy outfit is needed.

THE COMMUNITY TABLE will hold its Blue Plate Special Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is a minimum $7 donation. Dine-in or carry-out meals are available. The meal is sponsored by High Country Travel & Catering (sometimes better known as the crew of B & Al’s Grill).
