Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos will be hosting its third annual Toy Run to benefit Toys for Tots on Saturday, July 13. Riders can choose to start their route at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort or Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel. Registration for each ride will begin at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $25 and will include a T-shirt.
Nantahala Ranger District will temporarily close Moses Creek Road (FSR 4651) through the summer beginning Monday for logging operations.The road will reopen as soon as crews complete work and remove equipment from the roadway. Visitors should avoid areas where logging operations are occurring. When driving, give logging trucks a wide berth. Parkinson’s Support in the Mountains will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 11, in the Heritage Room of the Jackson County Department on Aging, 100 County Services Park in Sylva. The meeting is open to all interested persons.
