ARTISTS MAUREEN SIMON AND BRUCE BRENNAN are exhibiting at the Haywood County Library in Canton. Simon’s photography exhibit, placed in the Library meeting room, shows life on the streets of New Orleans. As she strives to do in all of her work, she plays up the people, colors and beautiful scenes of everyday life. Contemporary painter Brennan’s work, shown in the Library’s main patron usage room, boasts expressionist land and seascapes that capture dawning and setting suns, mountains, and seas. THE ACTORS AT HART THEATRE are preparing to open MISCAST, an original cabaret musical offering them a chance to sing songs they would typically never be cast to sing. The show, premiering at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, will feature seasoned veterans of musical theater Dwight Chiles, Chelsey Lee Gaddy, Kirby Gibson and Jay Jay Ponton. Surprise solos, duets and quartets are all planned with nothing off the table. Ninety minutes before the show, The Center Stage Cafe will be open for attendees to dine on the main stage. In addition to the Feb. 12 performance, MISCAST will show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, with repeat performances at the same times the following weekend. Shows tend to sell out, so reservations are recommended. To reserve a seat for the show or dinner, call the HART Box Office at 828-456-6322 and leave a name, a phone number, the number of guests and the date of the performance. Seating is general admission, so the Box Office won’t return calls unless no seats are available.
