A family favorite made with a mother's love.

3 eggs

1 cup vegetable oil

1 1/2 cup sugar

2 cup self rising flour

1 teaspoon soda

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon allspice

1 cup butter milk

1 cup prunes (cooked, seeded and chopped) prunes need to be juicy so cake will be moist

1 cup nuts (if desired)

Blend sugar and oil, add eggs and dry ingredients alternately with milk, then vanilla, nuts and prunes.

Pour into greased pan, bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes. Pour icing on cake while it is still hot.

Buttermilk Icing

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/2 teaspoon soda

1 tablespoon white corn syrup

1/4 cup butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Boil mixture until it forms a soft ball in a cup of water. Pour over hot cake.
